چکیده

Objective: To study the efficacy of middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization for treatment chronic subdural hematoma (SDH) and characterize its post-embolization volumetric resolution. Methods: Ten patients diagnosed with 13 cSDH underwent MMA embolization. SDH volumes were measured from time initial discovery on imaging to pre-operative, post-operative, short-term long-term follow-up. Time between procedure obliteration was also measured. Volumetric analysis done using coniglobus formula, recurrence rate as well resolution timeline defined best-fit models. Results: Out 10 patients, five recurrent lesions, three bilateral seven unilateral cSDH. Average median pre-operative 105.3 cc 97.4 cc, respectively. Embolization average performed 21 days after discovery. Sixty percent had concurrent antiplatelets or anticoagulation use. Forty primary therapy. Recurrence not seen in any treated There no peri- post-operative complications. Five experienced complete near-complete obliteration, while those partial showed a composite 75% reduction 45 days. Post-embolization, followed an exponential decay curve over independent volume. Conclusion: contributed marked volume post-operatively can be used curative therapy SDH.

Recurrence of a Refractory Chronic Subdural Hematoma after Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization That Required Craniotomy

Middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization has been performed to treat refractory chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) with good reported outcomes. We have treated three cases of CSDH with MMA embolization to date, but there was a postoperative recurrence in one patient, which required a craniotomy for hematoma removal and capsulectomy. MMA embolization blocks the blood supply from the dura to the ...

Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization in Recurrent Chronic Subdural Hematoma Combined with Arachnoid Cyst.

Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a collection of old blood and its breakdown products between the surface of the brain parenchyma and the outermost layer called the dura. The most common treatment option for primary CSDH is burr-hole trephination; however, the treatment method for recurrent CSDH is still widely debated. An arachnoid cyst (AC) is a sac filled with cerebrospinal fluid located ...

Spontaneous resolution of post-traumatic chronic subdural hematoma: case report.

Spontaneous resolution of post-traumatic chronic subdural hematoma is a very rare and unexpected event. It has been rarely reported in the literature, mostly cases of chronic subdural hematoma resolution in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Operative procedure is generally considered the treatment of choice for chronic subdural hematoma. We present a rare case, which did not require an open ...

Ruptured Mycotic Aneurysm of the Distal Middle Cerebral Artery Manifesting as Subacute Subdural Hematoma

Mycotic aneurysms are rare inflammatory neurovascular lesions. Ruptured mycotic aneurysm manifesting as subdural hematoma is extremely rare. A 72-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital with headache and drowsiness. Computer tomography (CT) of brain and CT angiography revealed subdural hematoma and an aneurysm located at the M4 segment of the left middle cerebral artery (MCA). Cerebr...

Spontaneous Resolution of Bilateral Chronic Subdural Hematoma.

A sixty five years old male had presented about two years back with progressive weakness of left upper and lower limb and altered mentation. Computed tomography (CT) of the brain revealed a hypodense collection in the right frontotemporoparietal region with areas of hyperdensity posterio...
